Leave a note with Tokn when youre doing something alone. If you dont check in when you said you would, Tokn will let a friend know your note (and your location when you left it), and that you might need help. Even if your phone is dead.

It is the hassle-free personal safety app. Tokn lets someone know, but only if you dont check in. It provides a perfect balance between safety and privacy.

Alerts to your buddy come from our servers, so you dont need a network connection or even any power once you have set your Tokn; If we havent heard from you well send an alert, simple as that. And Tokn does not track your location - it only stores your location when you leave a note - keeping your battery alive for longer when you may need it most.

Tokn is free to use with no subscription fees.

Tokn is a personal safety app designed for lone workers, field workers, hikers, backpackers, snow-boarders, skiers, mountain bikers, horse riders, cyclists, nurses, health visitors, social workers, real estate agents, teachers, mental health workers, construction workers, surveyors, teenagers, anyone walking home alone late at night, and many other people. Anyone who is doing something solo, risky or is vulnerable can make use of Tokn.

Tokn was inspired by the true story of Aron Ralston in the Danny Boyle film 127 hours. Aron was a confident, cocksure solo adventurist who loved the outdoors. He hated telling anyone where he was going. This was nearly his downfall as he became trapped under a rock in the middle of nowhere for days and only escaped by severing his own arm with a blunt penknife. He lived in an apartment on his own, so leaving a post-it note on the fridge wouldnt have helped. For Aron, letting someone know where he was going would have meant a phonecall to his mum. Clearly not cool.

Tokn would have been ideal for Aron. He could have let Tokn know where he was going, and only if he didnt check in by Sunday evening would anyone be told, be it his mum, his friend or his work colleagues. With Tokn, Aron would have maintained the privacy, mystery and solitude he needed, but safe in the knowledge that if he didnt make it back someone would know where and when to look for him.

Nowadays Aron always leaves a note to say where he has gone. Perhaps well see him using Tokn soon.

* Alerts are sent via text message (SMS) to your friend from our servers at no cost to you or them. Your buddy needs a phone capable of receiving a text message and viewing a web page. In the unlikely event that you use more than three alerts then more text messages are available for in-app purchase in bundles of four, for the price of a chocolate bar.
